 DARD BEE INSPECTORS

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) provides a Honeybee diagnostic service to determine the presence of notifiable diseases:- Varroosis, American foul brood and European foul brood. Contact the bee inspector for your area.

American and European Foul Broods

Suspect foul brood samples should be submitted in wrapped newspaper inside a sealed polythene bag via the Bee Inspectors or direct to the laboratory at Newforge Lane. Varroosis, American foul brood and European foul brood are all notifiable diseases and the appropriate measures must be followed in case of positive findings.
